I did not forget or forgo this blog. Life keeps getting in the way. So...having renewed the commitment to myself, I post.
I have continually been collecting information on the Louisiana candidates. I was wrong. There is an extreme amount of information out there. In fact, so much that it was about to exceed the limits of my medication. (I've seen that quote attributed to Foghorn Leghorn, but I couldn't find an actual source.) Unfortunately, I don't find most of it helpful. I'm not sure what I was looking for. Maybe a source that said, “Okay, Deb, here's the one. They are going to turn everything around.”
DEB'S DEFINITION
WISDOM: THE ABILITY TO KNOW WHO TO VOTE FOR WITH THE INFORMATION YOU HAVE.
The problem I see is that I can't tell what is really going on. The pork behind the candidates, if you will. Everyone is putting on their very best, and what you see may not be what you really get, and I am not in a position to know anyone who is in the know.
Recently, I asked some very general questions about certain candidates because they were from Scott, and most of the people in the room were from Scott. Whew! That didn't get me anywhere. I got very different answers from everyone there, and not many were willing to give me anything definite. I came out of there feeling I had not gained any insight.
Below is the limited edition of information on the candidates for Lieutenant Governor.
Lieutenant Governor
Elbert Lee Guillory Republican from Opelousas Black Male
Melvin L. “Kip” Holden Democrat East Baton Rouge Black Male
William Nungesser Republican White Male
John Young Republican Jefferson Parish White Male
